Simple cake decorating with powdered sugar and negative space.
Ingredients
- 3/4 (I usually add a little more) cup dark cocoa
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1 1/2 baking powder
- 1 1/2 baking soda
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 1/2 tea vanilla
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2-3 tablespoons of powdered sugar (for cake top)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine all of the dry ingredients.
- Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla to the dry ingredients.
- Stir in bowling water.
- Grease and flour two round pans.
- Pour into pans.
- Bake 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool.
- Cut out shapes from card stock and arrange on cake.
- Place powdered sugar in sifter and sift over cake top.
- Carefully remove shapes from cake top to reveal your design.
