My favorite Spice Cake recipe.
Recipe for Spice Cake
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tea baking soda
- 1 1/2 tea baking powder
- 1 tea ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tea ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tea ground cloves
- 1/4 tea ground ginger
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 tea vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 cups milk
DIRECTIONS
- Grease and flour 2 8 x 1 1/2 inch round cake pans.
- Stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl beat butter, sugar, and vanilla.
- Mix in eggs 1 at a time.
- Alternately add milk and flour mixture until combined.
- Pour into prepared pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 min or until a wooden tooth pic comes out clean.
- Cool before frosting.
*Its not necessary but I like to line my pans with parchment when I make cookies and cakes. For cakes I make the parchment rounds up in advance, its easier to make a dozen at once and store rather then to do it when your in the midst of baking.
Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 4 oz. softened cream cheese
- 1 /4 cup softened butter
- 2 tea vanilla
- 3-4 cups of powdered sugar Sift the sugar for lump free frosting.
DIRECTIONS
- Beat cream cheese, butter and vanilla with a mixer until fluffy.
- Slowly add the powdered sugar until you reach the desired consistency.
* You can double the recipe if you like a heavier frosted cake. 8 oz cream cheese, 1/2 cup butter, 2 tea vanilla, 5-6 cups of powdered sugar.
