I’ve always liked wrapping gifts. During holidays when I was a teenager my mom would give me all of the family gifts and it was my job to wrap them and I was happy with every aspect of the task. As an adult I still enjoy wrapping but find that its so expensive and wasteful I rarely do it anymore.
Another possibility is to wrap gifts in cloth. In Turkey there was a tradition of wrapping gifts as well as other items that were passed between people in cloth. The nicer the fabric the higher the compliment to the receiver.
An easy source of finished fabric for smaller gift wrapping is cloth napkins. The black napkin in the photo was embellished by my friend Radia. Wrapping with cloth makes a easy yet lovely wrapping and is also a beautiful tradition for gift giving.
